Beatrice recognized opportunities, starting at age 15, on how to avoid unnecessary and inflated costs (on a family vacation!) and applied her work ethic and clear insight to consistently deliver world-class job performances throughout her productive and rewarding career.
Rising Star Award
Winner: Shemika McCauley, UNUM
Although Shemika is only in the early stages of her career, she has demonstrated exceptional drive with a sense of urgency, delivering strong business results against increasingly complex assignments.
Supplier Partnership Award
Winner: Accenture & Microsoft
Microsoft, and Accenture/Avanade partnered to digitally transform the supplier vetting and onboarding process. Leveraging Microsoft’s Dynamics technology and Accenture’s deep knowledge of procurement services, they were able to achieve 95% automation of new supplier qualifications and reduce cycle time from three weeks to one day.
Team Innovation Award
University of California (IT Strategic Sourcing): In order to overcome the challenges associated with the university’s large, highly complex and distributed environment, and to reduce both the cost and risk of IT strategic sourcing, the ITSS procurement team implemented multiple steps focused on building strong partnerships with enterprise-wide leaders, stakeholders and business process owners. Through an impressive level of collaboration across complex purchasing environments, the team was able to build accountability into their procurement processes and to document and measure process improvements. Over the most recent full fiscal year, the benefit resulting from the collective efforts of the ITSS team has resulted in over $24,000,000 in savings.
TIAA (Sourcing Operations, CWP): TIAA’s Strategic Sourcing team is continuously looking for ways to improve processes, tighten controls and produce substantial cost savings and avoidance for the company. They realized they could provide a more seamless customer service experience, and could generate $1.2 million in annual savings by moving a corporate Contingent Worker program from an outsourced to an in-house model. A disciplined transition process resulted in no interruption in service to the key stakeholders. This transition also created new career path options – existing employees expanded into Staffing and new employees now have a multitude of options in financial services should their interests develop outside of Staffing. The improvements resulting from the transition also reduced cycle times, decreased program team workloads, increased stakeholder satisfaction and enabled the implementation of measurable improvements.
Sprint Corporation (Sourcing Lifecycle Management): The Sprint team is a relatively new group and during their short existence, they've established a Sourcing Standards Council to govern internal process and policy matters, published a Sourcing Playbook (consisting of standard processes, best practices, and job aids), and created RFX and eAuction metrics to measure sourcing performance. Over the last year, they’ve overseen over 130 RFXs with a total value in excess of $1.2B and administered 87 eAuctions where they've realized an average incremental price improvement of 16% across suppliers. The team has taken on a very fast-paced entrepreneurial identity and is recognized as being front and center in taking billions of dollars out of annual spend thereby playing a major role in supporting Sprint's turnaround efforts. Over the last year, this team has demonstrated a high degree of innovation and a healthy mix of process improvement that integrates both digitalized technologies and human expertise.
